My oldest daughter is running for homecoming court. This is her senior year so she though why not, right? We spent last night making badges with her picture and “Vote for Michaela Senior Court”. They were really cute. She was talking to me about it and she said “You know it really does not matter how much I campaign for this because when it comes down to it, it is just a popularity contest.” Michaela is a popular girl. She is one of those you remember from high school that got along with with EVERYONE and does not want to hurt anyone’s feelings. With all of that she still has the fear of rejection. She does not think she is going to win but she wanted to atleast give it a try.
She is very kind, very pretty, very friendly, very goofy and very smart. I am keeping my fingers crossed for her because as she said it is a popularity contest. I don’t remember this being such a long drawn out process when I was in school. First, they campaign for 2 weeks then the whole school votes. Second, the court is annouced. Third, you campaign again for a week. Forth, the school votes again for king and queen. Then finally the king and queen are announced. We went dress shopping over the weekend, just to look at the dresses. She is so pretty and growing up so fast. I can remember when I brought her home and how tiny she was. Now she is graduating in May and talking about going to China. This is so scary.
