15 minute closings

When my husband and I bought our house a few years ago the paperwork was overwhelming not to mention the 1 1/2 long closing.  I still have a stack of papers I need to scan to get on disk so when a hurricane comes I just grab the disk instead of the forest I have in a box.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have all of that on disk?  Better yet wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a 15 minute closing.

Now you can get an emortgage and everything is done on line, even the closing.  Not to mention you have instant funding now going to the bank and waiting for the check to cash.

What do your kids want to beeee for halloween?

This is my youngest. Right now she wants to be a bee. Isn’t she just the cutest little bumble bee you have ever seen.  We also have a French poodle costume.  Stay tuned for those pics.

Kokua Hawai’i Foundation

I want to share with all of you a wonderful foundation my family is a part of.  The name of this foundation is Kokua Hawai’i Foundation based in Haleiwa, Hawai’i.  This foundation is close to our hearts because most of our family live on the varies islands.  Hawai’i is the only place I have ever been where my soul feels at ease.  I just feel like I am home when I am there, which is weird considering I was born and raised in Louisiana.

You may have heard of their founder Jack Johnson.  Now stay with me because this is not some foundation a celebrity has started and basically lets the people that run it use his name.  Jack Johns is very committed to this project and its success.  He was born and raised in Haleiwa and still resides in Hawai’i so these issues are very personal to him.  Not only does he put on a concert every year on Oahu but he also goes to the local schools to teach the children the 3 R’s.  All money donated to Kolua is used locally to protect beautiful Hawai’i.  Starting with our children is the first step and Kokua recognizes that.  Our parents show us where the once beautiful sugar cane fields would sway in the breeze and make you think it was waves of green water.  Now those fields are covered with houses.  The beaches are eroding at a tremendous rate.  The picture you see here was taking in Haleiwa.  You can see from the root system how much the beach as eroded.

The beaches along with eveything else in Hawai’i are very fragile. In the coming weeks I will be posting more information on the foundation and ways you can help in your own community to make the earth a little bit better. With your help we can make the earth a little greener.

Why God made Moms?

I just thought these were too cute.  I have selected just a couple.  What would we do without our invisible eyes?

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

What’s the difference between moms & dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power ’cause that’s who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend’s.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean.  I’d get rid of that.
2. I’d make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head

Standardized Testing

With our youngest growing up so fast we are constantly looking for ways to better her learning ability.  Today in school all of the milestones are measured with standardized tests.  With that being said reading comprehension plays a major role in the pasting of these test.  We feel it is very important for our daughter to have reading tutors in her academic future.  Even before your child enters elementary school it is imperative to start developing their reading comprehension skills.

3 R’s

The 3 R’s recycling program is a great way to do your part in helping preserve the earth. Reduce Reuse Recylce Here are just a few ways you can achieve these goals with little or no effort.

  1. Bring a lunchbox to school or work instead of a new paper or plastic bag everyday.
  2. Use plastic washable containers instead of zip lock bags to bring your sandwich or snacks.
  3. Donate clothes, furniture and toys that you do not have a use for anymore. Someone else could get some use out of them.
  4. Recycle your cans, plastics and glass whenever possible. Don’t forget those newspapers.

These are just a few things you can do to get to you started.
