I am very very sad to say that Michaela did not make homecoming court.  I wanted her to make it so bad because it was her senior year and it would have been just so great for her to be on the court.  She took it like a trooper though.  She was a little sad she did not make it but she was not too upset.  I was just so proud of her for even running for it because I know I did not have the courage to do something like that when I was in school.  It showed great spirit and confidence in herself.  She will always have the memory of running even if she did  not win.  We did find such a pretty dress like I said before so she is going to be the most beautiful at the dance, as always.

My Mom and I spent the day together yesterday.  She is down from Louisiana so I took the day off of work so we could run around.  We ended up at the farmer’s market to get some apples and oranges to take back with her.  We bought 3 potted plants and the sign that was next to the plants said dragon wings.  They are so pretty and purple.  When I did a search on the flower the images that I found did not look like the flowers we bought.  Could someone out there tell me if there are several different types of “dragon wings” or maybe if you have heard it called something else?  Any info would be helpful.

I can tell you we use ours all of the time and now I found out they have luggage too. My husband’s company is taking everyone on a trip next year to either Asia or a cruise to Hawaii so I have my eye on one of their docking daypacks. You have to look good, right?

WE FOUND A HOMECOMING DRESS!!!!  Michaela is so excited and it really looks nice on her.  We did not have a lot of time today because my Mom is coming from Louisiana to visit for almost a week.  We are so happy, we love when she comes.  Well, we love when any of our family comes.  So decided to run up to Burlington to give them a shot.  As soon as we walked in she started putting dresses in the basket.  We always look through all of the stuff first just putting it in the basket that way we only have to make one trip to the dressing room.  After trying on 11 dresses we where down to two.  It was a hard decision but she made a good choice and all for $40.  You got to love that.  I like Burlington you can find good deals on nice stuff but the staff is always rude and you have to dig through so much  crap because the store is always a mess.  At least it worked out for us today.

This is really getting scary.  There have been 7 cases of MRSA in the high schools in the Tampa area.  One case has been found at Michaela’s school.  All of the children that were found to have it are responding very well to treatment and some have even returned to school.  If your child is involved in sports please pay close attention to any cut, scratch or abrastion they may have.  One of my friends here at work lost a family member last week to MRSA.  She became ill on a Wednesday and went to the emergency room on Saturday and unfortunatly passed away in the emergency room.  She was in her 20’s.  This can be deadly and we have to protect our children and educate ourselves because quick treatment is the key.  I have listed the warning sides below from WebMD.  Please take time to read them.

What are the symptoms?

The symptoms of MRSA infection depend on where you’ve been infected.

MRSA most often appears as a skin infection, like a boil or abscess. It also might infect a surgical wound. In either case, the area would look:

• Swollen
• Red
• Painful
• Pus filled

Many people who actually have staph skin infections often mistake it for a spider bite.

If staph infects the lungs and causes pneumonia, you might have:

• Shortness of breath
• Fever
• Chills

People who are ill or have a compromised immune system have a higher risk of getting MRSA. If you have a condition that lowers your immunity, call your doctor right away if you think that you might have an infection.

Whoever says you do not need makeup mirrors in the bathroom should be strung up.  Even if you do not put on makeup you need a good mirror in the bathroom.  I love mine.  I have one that sits on the counter so I can put it anywhere I want.  You have to make sure it has a magnifying side on it though.  Even guys need makeup mirrors, oh yes you do.  When you are up close to someone waiting to go in for that kiss don’t you want to know what she/he sees?  That is what you need the makeup mirror for; you can get right up on it without the counter blocking you.

This landed in my email box from my friend Darla.  I want to thank Darla for sharing this with everyone and I wanted to pass it on to you.  The song is by George Jones and the lyrics are beautiful.  I cried and I do not tear up easily with I get forwards in my email box.  My father-in-law, who I believe is my Dad, served in Vietnam and he is the greatest hero I know.  Not only was he a hero in a time of war but he is a hero to our family.  He is a kind, generous, smart and loving man.  I thank God everyday that he is such a good man and I am so thankful God gave me the priviledge of having him in my life.  Thank you Dad and to all of the men and women that served and still serve today.

I know we all have different opinions on the current war we are waging and the wars we have had in the past.  One thing we must always hold in our heart, is that no matter our feelings about war our feelings for our soilders should never waver.  They fight for us to be able to disagree but one thing we should always agree on is that if it were not for them we would not have the lives we live today.

Today is the moment of truth.  It is voting for the homecoming court at my daughter’s school.  I talked to her about it last night and she said I am not worried about it, if they see my name and they like me they will vote for me there is nothing else I can do at this point.  She said you know how it goes Mom, no matter how many posters or buttons I made it just all comes down to how many people like me.  The results will be announced on Monday and the game is Friday and the dance is Saturday.  I thought that was really all last minute if you ask me but I don’t know.  There are 8 spots on the court for seniors and about 23 girls are running.

I hope things turn out well for her, she is really looking forward to her Daddy escorting her to the game.  If she makes the court then the whole school votes for queen.  I hope she at least gets on the court she is a senior and I think it would be so special for her to make court her last year.  Keep your fingers crossed for her please.

UPDATE:  Voting has begun and Michaela’s name is spelled wrong on the ballot.  They reversed the ae.

I am so excited about this time of the year. I love the holidays and by this time we are starting to get a little nicer weather in Florida. I found this nifty little website that tells me about the festivals that are going on around the state of Florida. The first one I believe we are going to attend is the HUNSADER FARMS PUMPKIN FESTIVAL. I was so excited to see that they have a corn maze, I have always wanted to do one of those. So hopefully, wish me luck, on Saturday we will load up the girls and take a trip down to Bradenton. They are going to have craft booths, I love crafts. I am really excited to see the scarecrows also, I really don’t remember ever seeing a scarecrow in real life before.

Remember your graduation pictures?  Those were the days, carefree and full of life.  This is my oldest in her senior pictures.  Talk about making you feel old.  I just can not believe in about 7 months she will be graduating high school and going on to college.  She wants to get a degree in fine arts for photography.  We are so proud of her.  She has really matured in the past year but I guess that is the way it goes.  One day they are picking their nose standing in front of the TV and the next day they are picking colleges. 

Memory full….isn’t that the most annoying thing in the world. What I hate the most is when you are installing a program and you get almost done then your computer decides to let you know you do not have enough memory. Purchasing spare dell memory would save you from this nightmare. I always keep extra memory around for this very reason. Then you can just pop it in and finish your install.
