Michaela is getting an industrial piercing today. She says she is terrified but she still wants to get it. It is basically an ear piercing but instead of one hole it is two and a solid bar is passed between the two. I will post a picture of it when we get back. She is paying for it herself and in the long line of battles this is not high on my list so I did not tell her no. Now if she would have said eyebrow, lip, belly button or anything other than the ear that would have been a no. But I figure what can it hurt by piercing the ear she can always let it close up if she wants too.

One Response to “Industrial Piercing”

Hello:
I would like to say that the information you offer is great. I have to say that allowing your daughter to pay for her own piercing is good. This teaches her responsibility. However, I would like to say that piercing your ears are pretty much a normal thing anymore. As is getting other piercings. I, myself do not see a problem with getting your belly button pierced, because that to can be taken out and closed up. It also can be covered up with clothes. Where as getting your eyebrow, lip, chin, and even your nose pierced or other disclosed parts is a little much. However, other people would feel differently. Each person likes different piercings and unfortuantely whether we like it or not we have to deal with it. Maybe right now your daughter doesn’t want any other piercings, but later on she might. We as parents have to allow are children to be their own person and make their own decisions in life. As the old sayings goes “you can guide a horse to water, but you can’t make them drink”. Good luck with her piercings.
