Those little blue forest dwellers that we all know and love are 50 years old.  Smurfette looks pretty dang good for 50.  The smurfs were created in 1958 by Pierre Culliford but it was not until 1981 when they hit the television that they gained world wide fame.  To celebrate this milestone plans are in the works for a new 3-D animation film, the release of the animated series on DVD and a new comic book collection.

I am looking forward to Lani being able to enjoy the smurfs like I did when I was young.  I can remember watching it with my little cousin who we affectionately referred to as Gargasmell. 

When you pay all of this money for tickets for your daughter to see Hannah Montana, don’t you think you should be seeing Hannah Montana?  That is what I think.  For a brief moment Hannah/Miley is replaced with a body double.  According to Miley’s rep it is simply for a quick wardrobe change and nothing more.  Although it does appear that the body double sings part of the song, the statement released by Miley’s reps say the body double does not sing at all.  Guess their trap door did not work so well at keeping this a secret.

I was looking at a house a friend of mine sent me and it was one of those really old houses that had things like a lazy butler. I think that is what they are called. The little elevators you put the trays of food in to send it to the second floor. I also had a stair lift and a laundry shoot. Now those are cool. No need to carry basked down stairs anymore just throw it in the shoot and it does downstairs to the laundry room for you. I always thought that those were pretty neat.

I’ve been asked to try these Grey Poupon Mustards and give an honest review so here goes. The first one I tried was the Harvest coarse ground in my potato salad. I always tell Michaela that the difference between Southern potato salad and northern potato salad is MUSTARD!!!! I usually use just regular mustard in the salad but I thought since I had these why not try and shake it up a little, and shake it up they did. The Grey Poupon gave it a kick it never had before, the whole mustard seeds gave it a tangy taste that we just loved. The Hearty Spicy Brown we used on sandwiches and it gave them the same taste the deli sandwiches have that we spend a fortune on. Not too spicy just enough to give the sandwich extra flavor and to keep you coming back for more. Both of these were awesome but I did like the coarse ground a little more maybe because it was in potato salad, because I love potato salad. Pick up a jar and add it to a recipe that calls for regular mustard and give it that added BAM!!!

Today we were able to finish the wall paper in Lani’s room, finally.  It seems like it took us forever to get it all done.  Well I guess if you think about it, it did take us forever to get it done.  Lani is now in a toddler bed and she is doing wonderful.  I thought we would have a battle on our hands trying to get her to stay in the bed for nap time and bed time but she has been so good, just like always.  Now we do not have to worry about her jumping over the rail to get out of the bed anymore.

You knew it was only a matter of time before jokes about how sad Ohio State is and how GREAT LSU is started circling the Internet. Here is the first of many. Of course I am also hearing jokes but they are too bad to put up here, right Mom. I tell you that woman’s mouth would make a Marine blush. Love you

East Japan Railway Co. has said “no” to the promotion posters for the festival held at the Kokuski temple saying the posters amounted to sexual harassment.  I agree with the Rail company, what woman wants to see chest hair?  I know I don’t!!!!!  The festival has been held for over 1,000 years where men dance in loincloths and wrestle for charms made of wood. 

Well she did not get out of the crib last night so we got one more night out of it.  I am trying to hold off for as long as I can before putting her in a toddler bed because I do not think she is really right now.  I am going to measure her tonight to see how tall she is because at 35 inches she has to come out of the bed.  I know she is not 35 inches but I want to see how much time we have left to prepare.  If she comes out one more time she is out of the bed completely I can not risk it.  I am hoping it was a one time thing and it does not happen again.  I talked to daycare yesterday and they told me that she has never climbed out of the crib at school so that is good to know.

Finally, I see an article about a parent taking responsibility for raising their children.  When Jane Hambelton bought her son a car she had two rules: no drinking and keep it locked.  Well 3 weeks after giving her son the car she found alcohol in it.  She placed an ad in the newspaper and sold the car.  Way to go Mom!!!!!!  We must teach these children that even though it was not your fault or it was a stupid mistake there are always consequences for the things that they do.  Here is the ad she placed in the paper and I love it:

I went to leave this morning and turned on the video monitor to look at Lani just like I do every morning but this morning was different, she was not there.  I looked again and then got closer to the screen to make sure I was not missing her.  I then woke Matt and told him that I did not see Lani on the monitor.  I grabbed the monitor and set it on the bed and gave Matt his glasses.  He looked and then said I don’t see here either.

I ran into the kitchen and slowly opened her door, thinking she was just in the corner of her bed and the monitor was not seeing her.  I slowly opened the door and looked in the bed and no Lani.  I yelled for Matt and when I did she stood up and said HI!!

She was sitting or lying, I am not sure which, on the floor next to her night light.  I don’t think my heart has started beating again yet and it has been a couple of hours since all of this happened.  I just grabbed her up and hugged her.  I could not believe she was there.  I could not believe she climbed out of the crib.  I brought her into our room and put her in the bed with us and just kept hugging her. 

Her arms were cold so I have no idea how long she had been on the floor with no covers.  She was in her bed when we went to sleep last night when Matt opened her door.  I asked Michaela if she was in her bed when she shut her door this morning and she told me that she did not shut it.  I guess when Lani woke up and got out of her bed she shut the door.

Michaela and Serena never climbed out of their bed so this is new for me.  I guess it is time to start thinking about getting her a new bed and get her out of the crib.  If she does it again we will have to do more than think about it we will have to go and get her a bed.  I don’t know if she will stay in the bed without the rails of the crib but I am much more afraid of the fact that she could break her neck by climbing out of the crib in the middle of the night.  She seemed find just sleepy and she did not want me to leave this morning.  I will keep you posted on this turn of events.  I thought about one of those crib nets but the Academy of Pediatrics advises against them.  Only if she does it again will be take the next step and get a toddle her bed.  Keep your fingers crossed it was a one time thing and this does not become an every night occurrence.

Oh the life of a Mommy!!!!!!!!  She is still the most precious thing in the world and she is 18 months old today.  If anyone has any advise just let me know.

Disney has said that you can take your child to eat at one of the other 97 restaurants if they are under the age of 10 because at Victoria & Albert’s in the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa they are not welcome.  According to Rosemary Rose, Disney’s vice president for food, beverage and merchandise operations, only about 3 families bring their children into the restaurant each year.  I wonder if there are only 3 families in a whole year, why do they need to make a rule saying you can not bring them in.  And, with prices starting at $125 that would make for one expensive happy meal.

This is what the outside of my cube looks like today.  The Ohio State fans have to pass by me to go to the kitchen so they are not too happy with me right now.  Oh did I mention I also have on my pink LSU shirt today.  Sucks to be OHIO!!!!!

What a game?  With Ohio taking off early in the game LSU answered back, less than a 1 1/2 to be exact, the game quickly turned back into LSU’s favor.  Don’t think you are going to come into the Super Dome and not get a fight.  The final score was 38-24 and it was tit for tat most of the night.  After LSU scored 24 unanswered points Ohio began to put up a fight but it was too late.  I made chicken wings and catfish for the big game, so by the time the game came on we were full and ready to watch it.  I hope you were able to catch the game but if not you can read the highlights here.

GET OUT THE BEER AND CRACKLINS, THE GAME IS ON!!!!! Tonight is the night. I am very excited about the game tonight. As luck would have it I sit in the middle of two Ohio State fans. How messed up is that right? What are the odds? That did not stop me from wearing my LSU shirt and tacking my LSU hat to the outside of my cube.

Well Christmas is over and everyone is settling in with their favorite presents of the season. Michaela and Serena loved the beautiful gemstone jewelry Matt and I bought them for Christmas and of course I love my ½ carat diamond solitaire that Matt got me. Michaela arrived home yesterday so the house has a little more noise in it then it did before. I am very happy that she decided to go to school locally and continue to live with us. I was definitely starting to have some empty nest feelings going on even though we have Lani here, so that was a little weird.

I am continuing to update Our Precious Gift with names so that data base is growing each day.  I am preparing for New Channel 10 to come and the interview on the 18th.  I was a little reluctant when I found out I was going to have to appear on TV but they will not do the story without it so I agreed.  Don’t forget to link over the site to check it out and forward to your friends and family.
