Paranormal Activity….I had such high hopes. I love scary movies and I really love ones about Demon because I totally believe in that stuff. I really thought this one was going to scare the crap out of me but it didn’t. I just kept waiting for stuff to happen. I was thinking this was going to be like Amityville Horror or something but it is not even in the same ball park. Yes, there are slamming doors and a couple of other things that come out of nowhere so you will jump but don’t expect to be looking over your shoulder while you are walking down the dark hall in your house to go to bed tonight.

That frighted feeling did not stay with me that long. I think the best part about scary movies is when you get ready for bed and you start thinking about the movie and you scare the crap out of yourself….I did not get that with this movie. The actors where good and convincing. If you are going to see it I suggest seeing it in the theater because I do not think this will translate well to your tv unless of course you have theater surround sound and you make it really dark, then it might.

Law Abiding Citizen with Gerard Butler, should I go see it?

The simple and quick answer to that is YES!!!! I just got home from the theater and I loved it. I like Gerard Butler from Sparta but I was a little worried if I would like his films after seeing Gamer. Don’t get me wrong he was good in Gamer but I was not to excited about the story line so I was questioning his ability to pick a good movie. All of that changed tonight. He has totally redeemed himself with me. I am sure he really does not care and to be honest I still would have given another movie of his a try if this one was not what I expected.

This one is great from beginning to end. Action around every corner and when you think it is going to slow down you are wrong. Seriously, at one point I was so shocked by what happened my HEART was really hurting. Really, I jumped so hard that my chest starting hurting, it was crazy.

Now, I can not tell you a whole lot about the movie without getting carried away and possibly giving away some parts of it. It all centers around a man who had a very bad thing happen to him and left it up to the justice system to do the right thing but when it doesn’t he takes care of it himself. I will tell you it definitely earns its R rating because there is a lot of blood and guts and you do see Gerard Butler’s bare butt in one scene but it does have relevance to what is happening.

My final word is: Go see this movie in the theater and then buy it on DVD when it comes out…..I know I will. A very good movie to say the least.

Toy Story 3D

My little one is so excited about this. She has been watching Toy Story 1 and 2 since she was about 1 1/2 years old. Right now she has Buzz and Woody. She got Woody when she became a big girl and started using toilet. Bribery will get you everywhere….I will tell you more about that later. Right now living in LA, the movie capital of the world, we have been bombarded with movie posters for months. Lani yelling from the back of the van, “Mom, look an alien!” is now commonplace. The movie comes out on Friday so I think we will be at the movies come Saturday morning. Below I have put the trailer just in case you have been living in a cave and did not know this was coming out.

Surfer Dude

The new Matthew McConaughey movie is called Surfer Dude filmed in Kauai. What a beautiful place to film a movie and catch a few waves. This is an interview he with one of the local stations via satelite from Los Angeles. Make sure you watch it to the end and find out how he decided to use his famous phrase, Alright, alright, alright.

The next time you see one of our service men or women please take a moment to say thank you. They sacrifice so much to give us the everyday freedoms that we sometimes take for granted all at the same time giving up so much of them. This great country was built on the backs of these selfless individuals. Teach your children that they are our true heroes not football players and movie stars. Please watch the attached video and the next time you see service personnel and you are too embarrassed to say something or you just do not know what to say just give them this sign and that will convey more emotion than any amount of words every could. Thank you to our heroes in uniform.

Need a shave?

One of my favorite Johnny Depp movie moments is in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when they walk into the room with all of the squirrels shelling the nuts. Then he tells the little girl not to touch that squirrels nuts just made me crack up so much and then to find out she was a bad nut was just too much. Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory is one of my all time favorite movies so to see Johnny Depp put his dark twist on it was just amazing. Of course because I am old school I have to say that Platoon is a great movie but when they go through the village it was heartbreaking to know that they had to be faced with such trauma. To see him as a translator in the middle of that chaos, showing the true mental anguish our soldiers when through was just heart breaking.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a funny take one an old classic but Platoon was a hard look at one of the darkest times in our history. Now he lends his talent to another film with dark undertones as well. I am very excited about this movie because not only does it have Johnny Depp in it but it is also a musical and it gives me and my oldest daughter a chance to get out and do something together. Beowolf 3-D

I forgot to tell you guys that Matt and I went to see Beowolf 3-D on Saturday perhaps I forgot to tell you because the movie was SO BAD. The only positive thing that came out of the trip was we got really cool 3-D glasses and let’s not forget the fact that Matt and I got some alone time. I had been a while and believe me we enjoy every minute of it. It is nice to get away and just sit with each other sometimes. He is my heart and soul and I love him so much. Just don’t waste the time going to see Beowolf. While we were there we saw 3 sets of people walk out of the theater. I wanted to so bad but I am one of those people and sit there thinking it has to get better then I will miss something. I did not get better and I did not miss anything. I did get to share popcorn and snowcaps with my man though, so it was a perfect night.

Sweeney Todd

With the new Johnny Depp movie coming out in December I am sure Michaela and I will be going to see it. She loves musicals and Matt does not so I always take her. Remember confessing is good for the soul so look deep within and confess to that terrible act of revenge. So with that in mind you can call, write or create a video and make your own Dashboard Confessional for all to see. When I was in 9^th grade me and my friend liked the same boy in school. I was “dating” him then he broke up with me to go out with my friend. She told me they were going to the movies that night so I went to the movies with other friends and when the lights went out in the theater we sat there and threw popcorn at them all through the movie. It was dark so she never saw it was me. They broke up a couple of days later, he was such a player. Now with that being said visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site and check out the trailer. The Golden Compass

The Golden Compass is a new movie set to come out December 7th with big name stars like Nicole Kidman and Sam Elliot. The reason I am telling you about this movie is because it is the first book in a trilogy and there are already plans in the works to produce the second and third book. If your children are like mine they are going to want to read the book and the other two in the series. This is where my warning comes in….the third book ends with the children killing God. Yes, you read that correctly, they kill God. Now we all have the right to see and read whatever we want but we must educate ourselves on the things that our children are watching and reading just like everything else. When it comes to this movie and the books please be familar your with them before just handing them over to your child. I not will presume to tell you that you should or should not let your child see the movie because that is your decision I just want to make sure you have the facts in order to make a wise decision. Just in case you are not convinced this is true look at the Snopes article on it. And so you are what movie I am talking about I have included the trailer for the film.
